SOS Venezuela Barcelona coordinates humanitarian aid after earthquake in Venezuela
Fundraising campaign begins to help those affected.
Barcelona, 25 June 2026. Representatives of Venezuelan associations based in Barcelona met this Thursday at the Ateneu del Poblet to establish the SOS Venezuela Barcelona Technical Board, a coordination platform aimed at channelling humanitarian aid to people affected by the earthquake that struck Venezuela on 24 June.
The initiative responds to the emergency and the need to articulate joint, effective and transparent action from the Venezuelan diaspora in Catalonia. During the meeting, teams were assigned to collection of aid, communications, transport and logistics, as well as mechanisms to ensure that supplies sent meet the real needs of affected areas and reach those who need them most.
Representatives from Asocaven, Pejucat, Meals4Hope, Ensamble de Cuatros Barcelona, Asociación Ayuda Venezuela, Gente Plus, Feria de la Chinita, Vente Venezuela, Hacha y Machete, Venezolanos por España, Estrellas en Movimiento, Venezuelan Press, Ven Da Tu Mano and Un Mundo Sin Mordaza took part, among other organizations committed to assisting victims of the tragedy.
The meeting was also attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, who expressed the City Council’s institutional support for aid initiatives driven by the Venezuelan community. Municipal officials also participated, including Maria Eugènia Gay Rosell, Second Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council, and Richard Sánchez, Commissioner for Citizen Relations and Cultural Diversity, with the aim of facilitating coordinated mechanisms to channel assistance.
During the meeting, the Mayor announced that Barcelona City Council will allocate €300,000 to support the humanitarian response through a non-governmental organization with a presence and operational capacity in Venezuela.
Members of SOS Venezuela Barcelona stressed the importance of acting with responsibility, transparency and coordination to maximize the impact of aid. They also called on citizens to join the solidarity efforts being organized from the city.

The Venezuelan community in Barcelona has lived through hours of deep concern since the earthquake. Thousands of families have spent the night trying to contact loved ones in affected areas, facing communication difficulties due to interruptions in electricity, telephone and internet services. The activation of SOS Venezuela Barcelona also seeks to serve as a meeting point for coordination and information for all Venezuelans and friends of Venezuela who wish to contribute to the country’s recovery in these difficult times.
